What we do<\/h2>\n

We would like to support socially disadvantaged people and families in South India financially. \nWe thoroughly examine the actual situation of the affected people through an application process. We look at each application together and also ensure that the information is truthful before a support decision is made.<\/p>\n

How does this work?<\/p>\n

We have trustworthy, well-known contacts in India who take their time and effort to understand the social disadvantages of the affected person \/ people and help them with the application procedure and also coordinate the necessary transactions.<\/p>\n

Our Vision<\/h2>\n

Jeder einzelne von\u00a0uns\u00a0verbrachte l\u00e4nger Zeit in Indien. Dadurch haben wir alle unseren ganz pers\u00f6nlichen Bezug zu Indien, insbesondere zu Tamil-Nadu in S\u00fcdindien.<\/p>\n

Now living in Germany, it is on our hearts to build a bridge between the worlds - the \u201cformer time\u201d spent in India and today; between the \u201cwestern world\u201d and India; between abundance and need.<\/p>\n

This bridge should also enable other people here to make a difference in India with their means. Human lives should be changed sustainably, we want to be part of it.<\/p>\n

That is why we support individuals in emergencies as well as associations that support the socially disadvantaged.<\/p>\n

Current Projects<\/h2>\n

We are currently supporting five young girls who were badly affected by fate. They all come from a rural area in Tamil Nadu, Southeast India, from very poor families. A serious traffic accident occurred in the evening hours of October 27, 2016. With internal bleeding and fractures in their arms and legs, they received medical treatment at the nearby hospital. Due to the circumstances, the girls sometimes had parts of their limbs removed to prevent further physical damage. After months of rehabilitation, they were able to successfully complete another school year at their previous high school. Paalam-South India e.V. supports the costs for their school education and the transport there. Without education, the girls would have no prospects for their lives.<\/p>\n

Navina<\/h2>\n

Navina is an 18-year-old lady from a small village near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. So far she has lived with her parents along with her older sister Caren. Her older sister unfortunately had mental and physical disabilities from birth. That is why she is dependent on permanent support and guidance. In contrast to Germany, there are no institutions in India that specifically look after people with disabilities, nor are there any state financial support. Therefore, the father has taken care of Caren, which means, he cannot do any wage work. If the parents are no longer able to provide care, this will have to be ensured by Navina. The family currently lives on the mother's income, which at just under 190 euros \/ month is hardly enough to make a living.<\/p>\n

Navina has successfully completed school and is now studying for a Bachelor of Optometry. If Navina successfully completes this degree, she has good prospects of a job that offers her a secure income. This means, on the one hand, that she achieves a certain degree of independence, but on the other hand, that she can also ensure that her older sister can continue to be looked after.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, studying in India is not free, which sometimes involves high fees. For Navina's studies, annual fees equivalent to 1,400 euros are due, as well as an additional 650 euros for dormitory and meals.<\/p>\n

In order to enable Navina to study, Paalam South India e.V. would like to cover the costs.<\/p>\n
